Over the years, I have watched the gradual evolution of Barefoot Ted's sandal company; from selling sheets of rubber and strips of leather out of the back of his car to what is now a fully-fledged running sandal "enterprise". This is a review of his latest evolution in rugged trail running sandals, the Luna Oso.

Top shelf work, as usual, Damien! The only criticism I would offer is your pronunciation of Oso. It is Spanish, and thus it is pronounced Oh-so. As in oh so tasty.

Aaron: Whoops :-) This Canadian boy has had zero experience with the Spanish language. Sorry about that. I probably butchered the word "huarache" too...

Great review, Damien! I have a pair of Venado's that have been excellent, but I'm doing a "Tough Mudder" race in a few months and I'm sure I won't be pleased with them there (foot slippage, and more importantly heel slippage). Do you think the Oso would stay firm in very muddy conditions?

Mickey: Thanks Mickey. That is a great question. I think the heel would hold alright, but I am not sure how good the forefoot would do in full-on muddy conditions. In a situation like that I would be tempted to use a closed-toe shoe, or even a pair of FiveFingers with gnarly lugs for really good security.

Thanks Damien. I've got some time, so I'm still pondering my options. The race involves somewhere around 11 miles of running, so I'd really like to wear a pair of Lunas for the race if I can get away with it. Thanks again for an excellent video.
