Sole Runner Now Available in the USA

One of the stand-out brands to join the minimalist footwear market in 2011 was Sole Runner - a small company based out of Germany. Sole Runner recently sent us some product photos to share, as well as some good news: they are now available for purchase in the USA.

Freedom for a Child's Feet

Summer has hit the East Coast, and with it freedom for my children's toes! This is the time of year when shoes could potentially gather dust sitting on the shoe rack, when we get to the grocery store and realize that I have 4 little ones; none with shoes on.

A Review of OTZshoes 300GMS Linen and Leather

OTZShoes 300GMS Summer is a golden time for us minimalist shoe types. Just yesterday our son was hiking barefoot. If barefoot isn't an option there are many other choices - flip flops, water shoes, sandals, five fingers, and so much other warm weather foot protection to choose from. But what about winter? I know what you're thinking, "summer just arrived, why go back there?" Well, the shoes I'm reviewing today have potential for both summer and winter...

Help Send Toe Salad to Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012

In 2011, Toe Salad went to Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City to report on some of the latest and greatest trends in minimalist footwear.

Over the past year, our family has gone through a huge moving and work transition (all good), but has meant that we just can't find a place in our family budget to purchase my plane ticket to OR this summer (flights from Canada to the US are expensive!).

If you think that Toe Salad's coverage of OR is of value, then please consider making a donation to help fund my plane ticket.

I am hoping to raise at least $700 (the cost of my ticket) by July 1st, and any money raised over-and-above that will go towards other travel related expenses. (If I am unable to raise enough money for the trip, your money will be refunded).

Any amount that you are able to donate will help!

VivoBarefoot's "Barefoot Running Coach app"

This app looks interesting:

http://trainingclinic.vivobarefoot.com/running-the-skill/barefoot-runnin...

It will be launched on Wednesday, and the launch event (in London, UK) will include a presentation by Lee Saxby at 7pm BST (UCT+1)

https://www.facebook.com/events/171307456332555/

"This app closely follows the coaching methodology of Lee Saxby, allowing you to compare yourself to common running forms. Following Saxby’s mantra: Posture, Rhythm and Relaxation, along with foot strike, you will be able to self-diagnose your form and learn tips and drills to help you transition to skillful barefoot running."

A Review of the Newton MV2

The Newton MV2 is a prime example of why the typical running store experience is faulty. To expect that someone could walk into a store wearing street clothes, pick an unknown pair of shoes off a wall, walk or run around the cramped aisles (or at best knock out a couple minutes on a treadmill) then select a key piece of equipment that will accompany them on 2, 3 or even 24 hour journeys is entirely unreasonable...
